I have always been a light sleeper. I can easily be pulled away from a beautiful dream even by the slightest noise in the real world. No wonder why a few days ago, I was instantly on my feet when I heard a light bang outside our bedroom.
My first thought was, something might have fallen from the ceiling. I went out the room with my still-sleepy-eyes half opened. It was 2 o'clock in the morning, mind you! -_-
I inspected the hallway; it was clear. No sign of any commotion whatsoever. Then I went to the kitchen; everything seemed fine and in perfect harmony. I checked on Sam (my little dog); he was awake, probably awakened by my footsteps. The whole house was in deep slumber. What caused the sound that woke me up then?
I spent a few more minutes wandering around (it's not like our house is so big, okay? hehe) then finally decided to embrace my bed who so lovingly puts me to sleep whenever I need it. BUT. Before that, I took a little appointment with Mr. Comfort Room. That's when the h-o-r-r-o-r (!) had begun.
When I opened the door to the CR, I noticed a piece of plywood on the floor. Being so sleepy and just half awake, I didn't mind it nor inspected it. Then I continued to do my business (:p) when all of sudden, a little mouse came out from its hiding spot behind a pail of water! I managed to stifle a scream---I didn't want to wake to whole world up just because of a mouse. But then it started jumping up and down as if telling me, "Let me out! Let me out!" I almost freaked out! lols. It circled around the bathroom while my heart struggled hard inside my chest cavity. After washing myself I immediately ran out of the CR and hurried to the bedroom. It was a real-close encounter with that little mouse! haha! :)
Whatever antok I still had when I walked out the room unfortunately vanished like a thin smoke in the midst of the raging rain. I calmed myself down and smiled at the thought on why I got so scared of that mouse. I am not generally afraid of mice; in fact, I find them cute specially the little ones. Maybe because that one was so jumpy? haha. Whatever. It was good that I was still brought back to dreamland by whoever is incharge before the alarm sets off and our Almighty God pins the sun to the sky.
My mother always sets traps (the sticky ones) to capture those mice but they seem to keep on breeding endlessly. I used to protest at that idea because I pity those mice when they get trapped. They look so helpless and kawawa talaga---the more they struggle to get out of the trap, the more they get stuck. Poor animate things. oh-oh. But on the other side of the coin, the traps are effective ha!
Have you encountered a similar situation before? How do you get rid of mice in your house? Inputs would be greatly appreciated! :)
hahaha! i had an encounter like that before but with a flying cockroach naman.. good thing you were able to control your scream.. me? totally screamed at the top of my lungs! hahaha :))ReplyDelete
Haha you're like my mom - a light sleeper. She even says she hears the "foot steps" of the cockroach.ReplyDelete
hahahaha. sometimes it is quite hard when you are a light sleeper because you tend to wake up just by hearing a little noise.ReplyDelete
We have bigger mouse in our house and we have so far co-existed in peace.ReplyDelete
LOL, you are just like any member of my family, So afraid with mouse. The first sighting pa lang ng mouse in the house, they immediately runs to me for help..ReplyDelete
I hate mouse! So KJ! hahaha.. I am too a light sleeper. I never liked me this way. It seems like it's hard for me to get a good sleep. Little noise and boom I'm awake.ReplyDelete
One best way is to keep your house really clean and spotless. And have a pet cat or dog in the house.heheheReplyDelete
Gosh! I don't think I can stand being in the same situation. Hahaha The thought of it scares me.ReplyDelete
LOL... we had the same encounter in our old office as the ground floor was a resto makes me avoid dining at that restaurant. as there's no way we can control them, we just moved out. the contract is due anyway! :PReplyDelete
Ack! their squeaks would make me awake at times especially when they're caught.ReplyDelete
nakakagulat talaga ang mga "maliliit" na yan hahaha pag may mga naliligaw dito sa bahay, yan din ang gamit ko.. sticky fly paper yata ang tawag dun haha and yes super effectiveReplyDelete
We share same sentiments, I was laughing when you described it, trying to go out, poor mouse. My hubby like to put sticky stuff too to trap mouse but I think rats are here to stay na talaga :(ReplyDelete
I hate to see mouse, they are scary little creatures. I haven't seen mouse personally for a long time.ReplyDelete
i am not sure about this but the same as what everyone does to capture a mouse is good. Lol. It was fun reading the whole scenarioReplyDelete
Your experience reminded me of my wifey, whose scared to death with mice when it just pass her. Though she love mickey and minnie but abhor this little creatures.ReplyDelete
Oh my goodness! I really don't like rats. I used to trap mice but they seem to take a break and never see one for quite sometime now. Maybe, the trap was effective.ReplyDelete
haha I thought there was a ghost or something scary hehe daga lang pala. Good thing the little mouse did not harm you :)ReplyDelete
The small ones are cute though but they become creepy when they grow really big like a kitten lolReplyDelete
I know that feeling!! it's like you feel someone's watching over you and then you hear scratches.. creepy!! good thing, you found the reason: the mouse!! :)ReplyDelete
You're still lucky because you just encountered a cute mouse. Me? A big RAT! Whew so scared that time!ReplyDelete
