Home for my Books

Lately I've been thinking of making a home for all of my books. I've been reading a lot the past few months and my books had already piled up. My mom scolds me whenever she sees them scattered everywhere---on the sofa, table, furniture or even on my bed. I actually have a cabinet where I put my books but some wouldn't fit in it anymore. Yeah, I definitely need a new bookshelf!

When I asked my father about the materials and tools needed to create one, he told me to buy lumber, wood, nails, glue and other stuff I don't remember anymore. He even added to also look for an l clamp; just in case we'll need to grip the materials tightly together when drilling and/or nailing. I didn't know that creating a simple bookshelf would be this complicated. So, I guess I would end up just buying a finished one; no hassle, no pain and no sweat! :)

How about you? Have you tried creating a bookshelf or any furniture by your own hands?

  1. haha I have never tried to build anything in my life - carpentry does not suit me because I am not creative even though I know how to use a saw and a hammer :) Anyway, I think you should just buy a ready-made one. It will save you all the trouble plus you'll have more time to read :P Also, buy something that can accommodate a bigger collection because pretty sure you'll be adding more.

  3. I know what you mean. I have a shelf for books and my books can't fit anymore. I have so many books because I love to read and I still continue to buy more. When I have the time and money, I will have a shelf built especially for my books XD

  4. How many books do you already have? We had a book shelf before that's huge but now because we're living in a condo, I have transformed 80% of our books to online copy so they don't have to occupy space physically.
