How to Renew Your PRC License

It is imperative to all professionals here in the Philippines to renew their PRC license once every three years. The process of renewal is quite the same for all licenses; the only difference maybe is the additional documents required by some professions. If your profession is among the following, then you are required to secure a Certificate of Membership and/or Certificate of Good Standing from your respective Accredited Professional Organization:

  • Agricultural Engineers
  • Electronics Engineers
  • Guidance and Counseling
  • Architects
  • Geodetic Engineers
  • Landscape Architects
  • Customs Brokers
  • Guidance and Counseling

  • Electrical Engineers
  • Mechanical Engineers

Some profession also requires CPE units, but for nurses, they don't require them yet as of writing this post.

Last November, I was finally able to renew my PRC license that expired last 2012. I couldn't find time to go to PRC due to work schedule and other stuff. Anyway, here are the things you must bring in order to have a hassle-free transaction with PRC:

  1. PRC ID. It is not really needed for the actual renewal process but sometimes the guard at the main entrance looks for it to verify why you are entering their compound. Better to be safe than sorry. :)
  2. Renewal Form. You may get this from the Information Window (the one near the entrance) or from the Registration Division (main building).
  3. Picture. Only one copy is needed. PRC is very strict about it so be sure to follow their format: passport size, white background and with name tag (last name, first name & middle name). It should be pasted on the renewal form---not stapled.
  4. Renewal Fee. It is 450php and with corresponding penalty fee if you renewed your license late.
Process of Renewal
  1. Fill-out your renewal form and paste your passport size picture on the intended box.
  2. Submit #1 to window 17 of the Registration Division.
  3. Wait for your printed renewal application. It is where the amount you are going to pay is indicated plus pertinent info about you. Check if there is any discrepancy so you can ask them to correct it right away.
I paid 660php since my license already expired last 2012.
  4. Pay the renewal fee (and penalty fee, if any) to the cashier.
  5. Wait for the release of your PRC ID. Yes, you read it right! You can now just wait for the release of your ID! It took us about an hour.
Note: If you will not personally renew your license, you must give your representative a letter of authorization or Special Power of Attorney.

Another Note: You may renew your PRC License at selected SM malls to avoid the long lines at PRC. But there are additional fee(s) such as convenience, photo and/or courier fee. Also, it takes longer before you get your ID---weeks or sometimes, even months.

  6. Dear Sir/ Madam,

I just want to make an enquiry regarding for my expired Nurse License. I have passed and have my license way back year 2009. For almost a year I have practiced in public hospital. And decided to work abroad as a caregiver for geriatrics as home based and children with special needs. For almost 2 years I have finished the contract. And jump with other country but not in the same profession. I work as Executive Secretary in the Developer Industry for almost 3 and half year. Can I be able to renew my expired nurse license? How much penalty fees should I incur? And also if possible I want to change the surname coz I already got married.Hope you can assist me with my case.Thank you in advance.
